Reagan

Posted in General, Research

Reagan I was watching the documentary “Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room,” again today and noticed this quote by Ronald Reagan from his Inaugural Address. I need to find a way to work this into to the Anarkon mission statement as it pretty much epitomizes what the company is about. Priceless.

“Government is not the solution to our problem. Government is the problem. The societies which have achieved the most spectacular, broad based economic progress in the shortest period of time are not the most tightly controlled, not the biggest in size or the wealthiest in natural resources. No what unites them all is their willingness to believe in the magic of the market place.”

In talking with my adviser last night I had an idea for a little instructional booklet to be handed out at protests that would give step by step instructions (complete with fun little illustrations) on how to stay safe in dicey conditions. For example how to handle / prepare for tear gas, rubber bullets, water canons, police dogs, stampedes, resisting arrest, making an effective sign, burning an idol in effigy, concealing your identity, etc.  I’m thinking an Anarkon branded, 4 by 6inch saddle stitched booklet with some Anarkon propaganda near the front.

Annual Report

Posted in Production

I just finished up the heavy lifting for the 2008 Anarkon Annual Report. Need to plug in the final edited text and finesse the type a bit but I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. Will be posting some PDF’s and rough comp photos soon.

Posters

Posted in General, Production

PostersPosters continue to go up around the city. If anyone would like a few of these let me know. I think I’ll be creating a few new ones before the semester is over or whenever I get through these. I’ve also been attempting to keep inventory of all the places (construction sites, blank walls, etc.) around the city in hopes of revisiting.

Just about forgot, but last week I finished the first round of the Anarkon Identity Standards Manual. I was happy with how it turned out and Nate (my advisor) had some great packaging ideas for it. Still waiting on a few final text edits from a friend of mine who is adding a touch of subversive sarcasm to the copy but will post a pdf and some of my initial process sketches soon.
