Just watched a great documentary called Peace, Propaganda & The Promised Land about the Israeli Palestine conflict. A must for anyone who hears about it on the news constantly but has never quite understood exactly what’s been going on.

Someone kindly posted it to You Tube if you’re interested.

Le Bijoutier This means nothingJust picked up a flyer for an upcoming book signing by photographer Le Bijoutier at Babylon Falling here in San Francisco. Check out their site for dates and times.

From Bablylon Falling…

For years, French photographer Le Bijoutier has roamed the five boroughs of New York City, documenting street art as it has developed over the past decade. In This Means Nothing, his first book, Le Bijoutier chronicles these works.

Born and raised in Paris, Le Bijoutier started traveling to the United States at age 12. When he moved to Marseilles, he received recognition for his acclaimed radio show, which airs weekly. He currently travels throughout Europe, promoting reggae and raggamuffin dubplates with his sound system, Dissident Sound.

Child Labor

Forbes Magazine The feature article in this months issue of Forbes Magazine (which I just got in the mail) is entitled, “Child Labor, Why We Can’t Kick Our Addiction.” The article talks about underage workers in 3rd world countries and how (still) a surprising amount of the stuff American’s buy has been made by children. No shocking news here but I thought it interesting that a magazine like Forbes would cover this topic.

Chinese RevolutionJust got back from a lecture given by The Party for Socialism and Liberation about the Chinese Revolution here in the Mission. Two speakers covered the history of struggle by China’s workers and peasants from the fight for independence to the fight to overcome underdevelopment.

Next week at 7pm the lecture series continues and will be looking at capitalism and socialism in China today. FYI, the party has just published a new book entitled, “China: Revolution and Counter Revolution” available on their website.

Slow Living

Posted in General

A good friend of mine passed on this New York Times article and it was so inspirational that I had to link to it. It’s about the Slow Living movement and its spread to other areas like design. They spend some time talking with Natalie Chanin (founder of Project Alabama) and take a look at other designers who are implementing “slowness” in their process and creation.
