Just got 2 posters back from the printers. These beauties are 18″ x 24″ and are printed in black and white (it was cheaper to do so and I’m a bit low on cash these days). I got about 40 of these made with my pals at BPS Reprographics in San Francisco and will be gluing them up on walls and construction sites around town in the near future in hopes of generating interest in the project and possibly a bit of confusion as well.

I spent most of this past Sunday in the letterpress room at the Fine Arts building turning out around 150 Anarkon calling / business cards on the old school cast-iron Vandercook. I made 2 polimer plates, one for each color, and bonded a nice black stock to a thick Aquatech white paper. The best part of the letterpress process is being able to feel the emboss of the graphic and the text in the paper stock. I thought the heavy duty feel fitting for the company.
I just got off the phone with Lindsey Wasserman from Hello Cool World, the Vancouver based organization behind the documentary The Corporation. I was writting ferverishly as I talked to her and wasn’t able to get the conversation verbatim but I think I came close in my short transcript of it (PDF).
In listening to NPR’s Morning Edition today I learned that PetroChina has just become the worlds first company worth more than 1 TRILLION dollars. It sold 4 billion shares and is now the worlds biggest company. 1 Trillion… that’s pretty big.
Last night I attended a lecture by the Party for Socialism and Liberation about the 1917 Russian Revolution. The discussion commemorated the 90th anniversary of the revolution and its accomplishments, it being the first successful Socialist Revolution in history which overthrew the capitalist class and put Russia on the road to building socialism. 3 speakers covered different stages of Russian history during the time and the last one talked about how the ideals from that time period are still relevant today. Aside from hearing some great speakers I meant some good people and of course, got some inspiration for my project. If anyone is interested in learning more about the party or getting involved, they meet at 21st and Mission at 7pm every Friday.
